Some friends and I met for dinner here and had an amazing time. We had just spent the day at the spa and we're famished. The restaurant decor was beautiful and elegant. There wasn't a lot of patrons during our dinner. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our server, Jose P and busboy, Mitchell B went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience and we did. Jose recommended the appetizer sampler and it worked out perfectly for the five of us. We all were able to taste some delicious food before our entree. We devoured those appetizers that included kale salad, yucca fries, tostones and empanadas. We were all excited for our entree after tasting how excellent the appetizers. We all tried different entrees from the salmon, paella and chicken. I ordered the chicken rice and beans and it was nicely seasoned and prepared with love. The portions were big and i was able to take home leftovers for the next day. We didn't order any dessert because we were full! The other reason is one of our friends bought two different black rum cakes for us to taste test and they hit the spot. This is a spot we would definitely check out again especially during the warmer months to enjoy that beautiful water and city view.

As usual I research a restaurant before I go. The history of ownership impressed me. On my way upstate from the city I decided to try this Latin cuisine restaurant. Let's start with the ambiance it's beautiful. I spent 15 years in 5 star hotel so let's just say I'm very particular about restaurants. I loved the ambiance beautiful classy. Hey from a housekeeping point of view the bathroom needs a little maintenance a bit worn & torn. Nevertheless they're clean an that's important . Side note suggestion have the bathroom doors painted. Maybe some hand lotion for this category of restsurant & hand towels instead of paper. The service was impeccable my server Natalie was very professional. Now the food, I ordered shrimp Al La ajio. God I hate that I was married to a man in the fishing business and I'm very familiar with fresh shrimp vs frozen shrimps. I've learned that white fish is easy to freeze but the taste is undeniable frozen vs fresh. They were tasty but just okay. I suggest a little bigger plates so that when peeling the shrimp shell and bread. Nevertheless, I asked for a side plate & it was promptly given. I had the fish of the day, pan seared it was delicious & fresh. Served with coconut rice also delicious. A double expresso with honey for the 2 hour ride home to the Catskills. Would I come back to this restaurant on my way upstate YES absolutely. The music which I'm very familiar with growing up in the 70's, 80's with salsa Celia Cruz, Hector Levoe, Willie Colon made my dining experience lovely & memorable. Especially when the. Night before I was at Dizzy's jazz club Salsa meets jazz a tribute to Hector Levoe. Thank you to the Duran brothers ! It's a lovely restaurant

Food is delicious Prices Music Ambiance Location- gorgeous This restaurant is one of my favorites Please look amazing

I hadn't been to Son Cubano to eat a meal since the first month it opened, but had it on my list to go back. I met a friend for lunch. I liked our waiter Jose and the busboy Mitchell. They were both friendly & informative. Our omelet and yucca fries and drinks were all very good and on point. I was overall happy with the place. The ambiance was nice. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that my friend had the sun in her eyes and it made her dining experience a little uncomfortable. Also, we were a party of 2 and were a bit surprised when a tip was included. This I thought was a little odd as I always tip on a meal especially for good service so it was unnecessary to have it on there.

Visited Son Cubano for the first time for a work related function. I enjoyed it! I like going to eat at Cuban restaurants and trying different Caribbean foods; so this was right up my alley. The food here was good, with a good variety. The service was good, servers and waiters were attentive. The ambiance was great, loved the decor on the inside and out. Not to mention, it is close by the water, and the views are great. I would def recommend, and return.

Son Cubano is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The vibes when you walk in are awesome and even though you've got an awesome view of NYC, you feel like you're in Miami. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating but the food is obviously what matters the most and Son Cubano delivers in that regard as well. The empanadas were super crispy and delicious, they come with spinach, chicken and beef and all 3 are fantastic. We got the crispy chicken lollipops as another starter and that was amazingly flavorful as well. My New York strip was super juicy and cooked to perfection. For dessert we got the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sliders and they were to die for. I don't care if you have to drive here from Connecticut, come try Son Cubano!

If you're looking for an unforgettable Cuban dining experience in New Jersey, look no further than Son Cubanos. This place is a gem, blending vibrant Cuban flavors with a lively atmosphere that transports you straight to Havana. Their cocktail menu is nothing short of impressive, featuring unique Cuban-inspired drinks. I highly recommend the guava-infused Old Fashioned--it's a refreshing, tropical twist on a classic that perfectly captures the Cuban vibe. The food was just as remarkable. We started with a selection of empanadas and grilled octopus, both of which were spot on. The empanadas were crispy and packed with flavor, and the octopus was tender and grilled to perfection. The side dishes are where Son Cubanos really shines. The Cuban fried rice was a revelation--rich, savory, and satisfying. Paired with perfectly cooked plantains and flavorful black beans, it was a true taste of authentic Cuban cuisine. We ended our meal with a twist on the traditional Tres Leches, which featured extra dollops of condensed milk. It was the perfect sweet finale to an outstanding meal. Son Cubanos is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cuban flavors with a modern twist. The food, drinks, and ambiance make it a standout in the New Jersey dining scene.

Very impressive how the restaurant is willing to adapt for a private party. Custom menus made for the party's theme, the food was made specially halal, and the abundant serving staff were constantly checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I loved that the appetizers were served family style so we could try everything. The standouts were the "Spinach and Cheese Empanadas", definitely the best I've had in NJ. The empanadas are fried to perfection, flaky and somewhat chewy without tasting very deep fried at all. The "Chicken Chicharron" were perfectly breaded, and the added hoisin sauce was a marvelous touch. The "Dry Aged Burger" was one of the best cooked burgers I've ever had. So juicy and flavorful! The "French Toast Fried Chicken" was largely unremarkable but the tomato pesto butter on top was very nice and the French toast was very fluffy and well made. With a beautiful interior, a spot right on the water, incredible food, and such warm hospitality, whatever Son Cubano charges it is well worth the price.

Ok the view from outside is amazing. But.... Inside is gorgeous also. So I can't begin to explain the ambiance. You'll be happy. The service was very diligent and very friendly. I like the vibe. Also the food and drinks was dead on. I loved it. We had friends pass by we haven't seen in a bit in the water. And they put them at our table no issues. Go and enjoy this awesome place.
